Biography Summary: George W. Bush (1946 - present) is famous for being the President during the terrorists attacks on September 11th 2001 and in retaliation he launched the “War on Terror”. After the attacks in 2001 President George W. Bush would be responsible for the Act of Congress that was the USA PATRIOT Act that he signed into law on October 26th 2001.

Bush was born in Grace-New Haven Hospital in New Haven, Connecticut, U.S. *** Family background: His father is George Herbert Walker Bush and his mother Barbara Pierce. His family origins are of English and German ancestry *** Early life and childhood: He grew up with four siblings younger than himself, Jeb, Neil, Marvin and Dorothy, sadly a younger sister, Robin, died aged three years of leukemia *** Education: George W. Bush attended Midland public school in Texas but when the family moved to Houston he attended The Kinkaid School. He then attended Phillips Academy and continued his education at Yale University where he graduated with B.A. degree in history before attending Harvard Business School, graduating with an M.B.A. degree ***

George W. Bush Fact 1: George W. Bush was born on July 6th 1946 and during the 20th century period in history when such things as cultural homogenization through development in transportation and communications technology as well as world population grown are all major issues in this century.

George W. Bush Fact 2: During 1968 he was commissioned into the Texas Air National Guard.

George W. Bush Fact 3: In 1977 he was introduced to Laura Lane Welch. The pair married in that same year and in 1981 became parents to fraternal twin daughters Barbara Peirce Bush and Jenna Welch Bush.

George W. Bush Fact 4: For several years prior to his meeting Laura he had had several occasions where he abused alcohol and at one time even had his license suspended briefly for driving under the influence. His admits meeting Laura straightened him out and he put drinking behind him.

George W. Bush Fact 5: He attempted a political career in 1978 when he decided to run for the House of Representatives but was unsuccessful. Instead he returned to what he knew which was the oil business.

George W. Bush Fact 6: In 1988 he decided to move his family to Washington D.C. where his father was campaigning for the U.S. presidency.

George W. Bush Fact 7: By 1994 Bush decided to run for Governor of Texas and won the vote by 53.5 percent of the vote. In 1998 with 69 percent of vote he won and would become the first in Texas history to win a Governorship on two consecutive occasions.

George W. Bush Fact 8: If was felt throughout his first term that he could possibly be a contender for a presidential candidate but when he won his re-election it was almost a forgone conclusion and in 2000 he decided to run for the Republican presidential nomination.

George W. Bush Fact 10: In July of 2000 he asked Dick Cheney to be his running mate and he accepted.

George W. Bush Fact 12: Four planes, high-jacked by members of the Islamic terrorist group al-Qaeda had been intended to fly into buildings. Two of the planes headed for New York and one crashed into the upper levels of the World Trade Centre North tower while shortly thereafter another plane crashed into the South tower. A further plane would crash into the Pentagon in Washington D.C. and the fourth plane was initially directed towards Washington D.C. also, believed to be heading for the White House. This aircraft would be brought down in a field in Shanksville, Pennsylvania when the passengers inferred and the plane was crashed prematurely.

George W. Bush Fact 13: Bush would also serve his second term at a time when the United States was entering into one of the longest post-World War II recessions that would have a global impact.

George W. Bush Fact 14: He would also be in office, during his second term, when one of the worst natural disasters his America, Hurricane Katrina, which particularly hit New Orleans causing Louisiana to declare a state of emergency.
