Biography Summary: Dustin Hoffman (1937 - Present) is famous for his contributions to the Entertainment Industry. Having decided quite early on that he wished to be musician he found out quite early on that he did not have the required talent. Instead already in college he took acting classes and found his vocation. Although he had wanted a career on stage he often found himself offered movie roles and so began and long and largely success career.
 

He has been nominated for seven Academy Awards and has won Academy Awards for his leading roles in Kramer vs Kramer and Rain Man. He was also nominated for thirteen Golden Globes and has won six, he is also the recipient of four BAFTA’s. He has also made his debut as a director for the BBC Film Quartet in 2012.

Dustin Hoffman Fact 1: Dustin Hoffman was born on August 8th 1937 and during the 20th century period in history when so many wonderful and terrible events shaped the world. World War I and World War II, the Korean War, the Vietnam War and the Cold War but also such marvels as advances in medicine, technology, travel, the expansion of car travel and air travel and a massive change within the industry of entertainment.

Dustin Hoffman Fact 2: Having learned the piano at a very young age it was initially where he wanted his career to go, however, once he started attending Santa Monica College he started taking acting classes and “caught the acting bug”.

Dustin Hoffman Fact 3: He later said “I just was not gifted in music. I did not have an ear.” So for the next ten years, when he was working, it was odd jobs while he waited for that big break.

Dustin Hoffman Fact 11: In 1969 he was offered another lead role, this time in a film called Midnight Cowboy which was vastly different from The Graduate and he decided to do it if for no other reason than to prove the critics wrong.
